Chelsea career
Born a few miles south-west of Stamford Bridge in north-east Surrey, Scott joined the club as a junior and appeared regularly for Chelsea in youth and reserve competitions such as the FA Youth Cup, Football Combination and Southern Junior Floodlight Cup. He turned professional in November 1956 but would have to wait well over a year for his first team debut in March 1958. He was a first team regular during the 1958-59 and 1961-62 seasons, but was otherwise employed as a back-up to more experienced players such as John Mortimore and Bobby Evans.
After Chelsea
Scott joined Brentford in March 1963 and became a mainstay of the side for four seasons. He subsequently saw out his career in the USA, playing for the Oakland Clippers.
International
Scott made four appearances for England's Under-23 side; against Poland, Czechoslovakia and France in 1958-59, and against Hungary in 1959-60.
