2008-09 Youth Friendlies

Chelsea Youth team played a friendly match in Austria, whilst there for a training camp, and one at Cobham, they then sent an Under-16 team to Northern Ireland to play in the Milk Cup again, but only a couple of the games were reported.
Having played 3 pre-season friendly matches, Chelsea then hosted the Cobham Cup, a tournament both for Under-16 and Under 14 teams. Listed below are details of the Under-16 matches where Chelsea lost in the Final.
In November 2008 the Club was back in America where they competed in the Newark International Cup, losing to Mexico in the Final. As with the previous year, they were again involved in the Disney Soccer Showcase for Under-17 teams immediately after Christmas, winning the tournament.
In addition they were involved in the Under-19 Champions Trophy in Dusseldorf in April 2009, but few details are known.
The Youth team travelled to The Netherlands to compete in the Copa Amsterdam Tournament in late May, but again few details are known.
In total it is known that the team played 10 friendly matches during the season.
