He then moved to FC Twente, where his reputation grew rapidly — scoring 30 goals and providing 28 assists in 76 appearances. In 2016, he joined Ajax, where he truly flourished. During his four-year spell, he became one of the Eredivisie’s most creative forces, recording 49 goals and 76 assists in 165 matches. Chelsea career
2020–21 Season
Ziyech officially joined Chelsea ahead of the 2020–21 season. Despite a disrupted pre-season and early injury setbacks, he began to show flashes of his creative brilliance. He made 39 appearances in all competitions, scoring 6 goals and providing 3 assists. He was part of the squad that won the UEFA Champions League, though he featured mainly in earlier knockout stages. Known for his left-footed deliveries and vision, he played mostly as a right winger or attacking midfielder in Thomas Tuchel’s system.
2021–22 Season
Ziyech’s second season was more consistent in terms of involvement. He featured in 44 matches across all competitions, scoring 8 goals and assisting 6. He contributed in Chelsea’s UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup victories, scoring in the semi-final of the latter. Though he faced stiff competition for places, Ziyech remained a valuable attacking option, particularly in cup matches.
2022–23 Season
This season marked a downturn in Ziyech’s Chelsea career. With managerial changes and squad instability, his playing time was reduced. He made 24 appearances in all competitions but did not score a goal, contributing just 3 assists. He came close to securing a loan move to Paris Saint-Germain in January 2023, but the deal fell through at the last minute due to paperwork issues.
Ziyech spent the 2023–24 season on loan at Galatasaray, where he enjoyed a resurgence in form. He made 26 appearances, scoring 8 goals and assisting 4. His performances helped Galatasaray to a strong domestic campaign, and in June 2024, the Turkish club made his move permanent.
