The
Premier League Asia Trophy (known as the
Barclays Asia Trophy for sponsorship reasons, previously named the
FA Premier League Asia Cup) is a friendly four-team pre-season football tournament held in Asia every two years. The competition is contested by three English
Premier League football clubs and the home team, and is the only Premier League-affiliated competition to be held outside England.
Chelsea won the inaugural tournament in 2003, beating Newcastle United on penalties in the final.
