Fussball Club Basel 1893, known as FC Basel, is a Swiss football club based in Basel, a city where the Swiss, French and German borders meet. One of the most successful clubs in Swiss football, much of their success came in the 1960s and 1970s when they won the league title seven times between 1967 and 1980. Following a decline in the 1980s the club were relegated in 1987, but returned to the top of Swiss football at the turn of the century, winning their first title for 22 years in 2002, with a further six titles to follow in 2004, 2005, 2008, 2010, 2011, and 2012. As of 2013 FC Basel have also won the Swiss Cup 11 times.
