Pre-Chelsea career
Marcel joined Chelsea as an Under-9.
Chelsea career
Marcel was an unused substitute on a couple of occasions for the Under-18s as a schoolboy without debuting. However, once a scholar, he was a regular in the Under-18s in a number of roles, most often as a full-back, but also as a wing-back or sometimes even further forward. He was involved in the 2017-18 domestic quadruple-winning team as a staple of the league campaign, and then moved on to Development Squad football, where opportunities were more fleeting by comparison but he continued to make progress.
He was released at the end of his contract in June 2020.
International
Marcel has represented England at Under-16 and Under-17 levels. He has also represented Portugal at Under-18 through to Under-20 levels.
