Pre-Chelsea career
Bashir joined Chelsea as an Under-15 from grass roots football after an earlier association with Reading.
Chelsea career
Bashir missed some time during his first season as a scholar but still contributed effectively as a centre-back or a holding midfielder, especially later in the season. He made his senior debut for Chelsea on 8 January 2023 in an FA Cup match against Manchester City, starting in central defence. During his time at Chelsea, he also featured in a League Cup fixture but did not make any Premier League appearances.
In January 2023, he joined SC Paderborn 07 in the German 2. Bundesliga for the remainder of the season, making 12 league appearances.
On 1 September 2023, Humphreys moved to Swansea City in the EFL Championship on a season-long loan, where he featured regularly and scored once during the 2023–24 campaign.
On 21 August 2024, he joined Burnley on loan, competing in the Championship for the 2024–25 season and contributing to the club’s promotion push. Following a successful loan spell, Burnley confirmed that Humphreys would join the club on a permanent transfer from Chelsea, effective 1 July 2025, signing a long-term contract with the Clarets.
International
Humphreys has represented England at various youth levels, including England under-16, under-19, under-20, and under-21 teams. He was part of the England squad that won the UEFA European Under-19 Championship in 2022 and has featured in youth international competitions up to under-21 level.
