Pre-Chelsea career
Jimi joined Chelsea from HJK Helsinki in March 2020.
Chelsea career
Tauriainen signed his first professional contract with Chelsea on his seventeenth birthday and subsequently extended it in July 2021. He continued his development within the club’s youth setup, featuring regularly for the under-18s and later stepping up to the under-21 side competing in Premier League 2.
During the 2023–24 season, Tauriainen broke through to the senior squad: he was named on the bench for Chelsea in the League Cup final against Liverpool in February 2024, and made his senior debut three days later in an FA Cup fifth-round match against Leeds United as a late substitute. On 2 May 2024, he made his Premier League debut in a 2–0 win against Tottenham Hotspur, coming off the bench.
In the summer of 2024, Tauriainen suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury during a pre-season friendly, which ruled him out for much of the 2024–25 season and necessitated a lengthy period of rehabilitation. He returned to full training in April 2025 and has since featured for Chelsea’s under-21 side in the 2025–26 season.
